Der FC St. Pauli hat Simon Makienok verpflichtet. Der seit Ende der letzten Saison vereinslose Däne unterschreibt beim FCSP einen Vertrag bis 2022 und wird die Offensive verstärken.

Dieses Mal können wir leider kein Interview anbieten. Unsere Kontakte zu den Ex-Klubs von Makienok sind so übersichtlich, dass wir mit unseren Bordmitteln auskommen müssen. Experten für Preston North End, Utrecht und ähnliche Kaliber melden sich bitte für die Zukunft für unsere Kartei.
Da es vermutlich wieder den Einen oder die Andere verwundern wird, dass wir diesen Text so kurz nach der Bekanntgabe durch den Verein raushauen, eine kurze Erklärung: Während sich der Wechsel von Henk Veerman langsam andeutete, erschien auf dem Dänischen Pendant zu fussball.de, bold.dk der erste Hinweis. Eine kurze Übersetzung einer dänischen Bekannten offenbarte, dass Makienok bereits heute den Medizin-Check absolvieren soll (der ist auch bitter nötig, später mehr dazu) und sich der Berater zwar bedeckt hält, aber dem Gerücht auch nicht entschieden widerspricht. (Wer gerade keine dänische Bekannte hat, kann auch den Google Translator bemühen.)
Und da ja bereits aus verschiedenen Medien zu erfahren war, dass Andreas Bornemann erst morgen nach Herzlake reist und der FCSP nach Veermans Abgang Bedarf hat für einen solchen Spieler, haben wir eins und eins zusammengezählt und sind mit der Erstellung dieses Textes quasi All-in gegangen.
Da ihr diesen Text gerade lest, haben wir damit die absolut richtige Entscheidung getroffen, sonst läge er nämlich immer noch in den Entwürfen.
(Das Gerücht, wir hätten einen entsprechenden Artikel über alle Spieler der oberen europäischen Ligen ist natürlich kompletter Quatsch. Als ob wir uns auf Europa beschränken würden…)

Simon Makienok Christoffersen ist Stürmer und nicht nur deshalb mit Henk Veerman vergleichbar. Er ist nämlich auch mit 2,01m genauso groß wie Henk. Und Makienok kennt die zweite Liga. Er hat nämlich das letzte halbe Jahr bei Dynamo Dresden gespielt und in dieser Zeit drei Tore erzielt. Bis vor einigen Wochen war auch noch gar nicht klar, dass seine Zeit bei Dynamo wirklich endet (das „ich bin Fan auf Lebenszeit“ sollten wir ihm noch abgewöhnen). Beim Heimspiel gegen Dresden am Millerntor im Februar haben wir Makienok nicht auf dem Platz gesehen, da er rotgesperrt fehlte. Aber bevor wir tief in seine Vita eintauchen, könnt ihr Euch mal ein paar Tore von ihm gönnen:

Neben der Körpergröße gibt es leider noch mehr Vergleichbares zu Henk Veerman: Simon Makienok hat in letzter Zeit mit schweren Verletzungen zu kämpfen gehabt. Bevor er das letzte halbe Jahr bei Dynamo Dresden verbrachte, hat Makienok fast das gesamte Jahr 2019 und die Saison 17/18 aufgrund von schweren Verletzungen verpasst. In diesem Interview erzählt er ein wenig über diese schwere Phase. Deshalb kam er in seiner Zeit beim FC Utrecht auch nur zu insgesamt neun Einsätzen (zwei Tore) in 2 1/2 Jahren(!).
Vor dieser Zeit spielte Makienok zwei Jahre in der englischen zweiten Liga: Zuerst, 15/16 bei Charlton Athletic und in der Saison darauf bei Preston North End (insgesamt erzielte er in der Liga acht Tore in den beiden Jahren). Bei beiden Klubs war er jedoch nur als Leihgabe vom US Palermo. Dort spielte er auch die Saison 14/15. Wobei „spielen“ vielleicht das falsche Wort ist, da Makienok auch diese Saison nahezu komplett verletzt ausfiel. Richtig viele Tore erzielte Simon Makienok in den beiden Jahren zuvor in Diensten von Bröndby IF in der ersten und davor bei HB Köge in der zweiten dänischen Liga.
Das ist für einen 29-Jährigen eine ziemlich mächtige bzw. lange Vita. Und ja, er ist fast komplett volltätowiert (ohnehin ist sein Insta-Profil eine Reise wert… – oder noch deutlicher: Es ist pures Gold!!! Und… ähm… folgt einfach seiner Freundin).

Die Rolle von Simon Makienok beim FCSP scheint recht klar zu sein: Er soll die durch den Weggang von Veerman entstandene Lücke füllen. Aber im Gegenteil zu Henk hat Simon Makienok noch ein paar andere Skills, die dem FCSP helfen können: Makienok ist ein sehr pass- und auch kopfballstarker Spieler (könnt ihr auch in diesem Video mal selbst anschauen und bewerten). Und daher muss vielleicht doch das Label „Ersatz für Henk Veerman“ etwas aufgeweicht werden, da Henk nun nicht als Wandspieler seine Kopfballstärke ausspielte (eher im Gegenteil). Wer sich die beiden Torvideos angeschaut hat, wird feststellen, dass gefühlte 80% seiner Tore im oder am Fünfmeterraum erzielt werden – was auch eine besondere Qualität ist.
Da Makienok nicht nur als Wandspieler für Kopfbälle gut ist, sondern auch das ein oder andere Tor per Kopf erzielte, könnte das z.B. recht gut mit der neuen linken Seite des FCSP zusammenpassen.

Trotzdem ist Simon Makienok definitiv kein Spieler auf den man in der Kaderplanung setzen sollte. Dafür ist seine Verletzungshistorie einfach viel zu erschreckend. Entsprechend kann davon ausgegangen werden, dass es noch weitere Neuverpflichtungen in der Offensive geben wird. Das finanzielle Risiko ist womöglich auch überschaubar, da keine Ablöse für ihn fällig ist und er bei seiner Historie sicher nicht zum Top-Verdiener am Milerntor werden wird.
Aber trotz des Fragezeichens aufgrund seiner Verletzungen können wir Simon Makienok als starken Zusatz zur Offensive betrachten. Ein Spieler, der, wenn er fit ist, durchaus wertvoll für das Spiel des FCSP sein kann und auch ein paar Skills in den Kader bringt, die so noch nicht vorhanden sind.

 Since it will probably surprise one or the other that we cut out this text so soon after the official announcement of the club, here is a brief explanation: While the transfer of Henk Veerman slowly became apparent, the Danish soccer website bold.dk released the first information. A quick translation by a Danish friend revealed that Makienok was supposed to take the (sorely needed, more on that later) medical check-up on Friday 28th of August.  Since it was already known from various publications, that Andreas Bornemann will join the team in Herzlake later on Saturday and that the FCSP needs a player of his kind after Veerman’s departure, we put one and one together and are more or less gone all-in with the creation of this text.

 (The rumor that we have a corresponding article for all players in the European top leagues is complete nonsense, of course. As if we would limit ourselves to Europe …)

Simon Makienok Christoffersen is a striker and not only for that reason comparable to Henk Veerman. With 2.01m he’s at the same size as Henk, as well. And Makienok knows the second division. He has been playing for Dynamo Dresden in the last six months and scored three goals in that time. It wasn’t even clear that his time at Dynamo would end until a few weeks ago. (we should wean him off the „I’m a lifetime fan„). At the match against Dresden at the Millerntor in February we didn’t see Makienok on the pitch because he was suspended due to a red card. Before we take a deep dive into his vita, you can treat yourself to a few goals he scored:

In addition to his height, unfortunately, there is more comparable to Henk Veerman: Simon Makienok also struggled with serious injuries lately. Before his time at Dynamo Dresden, Makienok missed almost the entire year 2019 and the season 17/18 due to serious injuries. In this interview he briefly speaks about this difficult phase. That is why he only made nine appearances (two goals) in 2 1/2 years (!) during his time at FC Utrecht. 

 Before this time, Makienok played in the English second division for two years: First in the season 15/16 at Charlton Athletic and in the following season at Preston North End (in total he scored eight goals in the championship within the two years). At both clubs, he was on loan from US Palermo. There he played the season 14/15. Although „playing“ is perhaps is the wrong word, Makienok missed almost the whole season due to an injury. Simon Makienok scored quite some goals in his two years of service at Bröndby IF in the first Danish league and HB Köge in the second Danish league.

 For a 29-year-old, this is a pretty powerful or long vita. And yes, he is almost completely tattooed (anyway, his Insta profile is worth a visit… – or more clearly: It is pure gold!!! And… um… just follow his girlfriend… ).

The role of Simon Makienok at St. Pauli appears to be quite clear: He is supposed to fill the gap created by Veerman’s departure. But in contrast to Henk, Simon Makienok has a few other skills that might help the FCSP: Makienok is a very strong player in passing and also in heading (watch and rate it yourself in this video). So maybe the label „Substitute for Henk Veerman“ has to be softened a bit since Henk didn’t exploit his header strength as a wall player (the opposite, rather). Anyone who has watched the two goal videos will notice that what feels like 80% of his goals are scored in or on the six-yard area – which is a special quality as well.

 Since Makienok isn’t only good as a wall player for headers but also scored a few goals with his head, this could e.g. go together quite well with the FC St. Pauli’s new left side.

Nevertheless, Simon Makienok is definitely not a player to rely on when planning a squad. His injury history is just too terrifying for that. Accordingly, you can assume that there will be other signings in the offensive. The financial risk is probably manageable, the FCSP didn’t have to pay a transfer fee and he will certainly not become a top earner with his history.
But despite the question mark due to his injuries, we can consider Simon Makienok a strong addition to the offensive. A player who, if he is fit, can be quite valuable for the FCSP game and also brings some skills into the squad that are not yet available in this form.
